Do’s and Don’ts of joining yoga classes
Hatha yoga, a mind and body discipline, has taken the world by surprise. There are so many people from all sections of society practicing yoga because they want to be healthy, fit, happy, and age gracefully Naturally there are deeper goals of yoga, but if you’re just wanting to get the health benefits, there’s nothing wrong with that. Skip that meal
Go to yoga class with an empty stomach. Yoga is full bending, twisting, lengthening, stretching, and strength moves. Eating too soon before your class will not only make you feel uncomfortable during the class, but it can also limit your movements. Chances are, you’ll feel much better after yoga and will be more aware of how much you are eating or really need to eat. That’s how yoga is good for weight loss!
Communicate with your teacher
Communicate with your yoga instructor. If you have a bad back or a sprained ankle, let your instructor know before class. She or he will offer you adjusted versions of poses or give you a nod when you should skip a pose that could make your condition worse.
Turn off those cell phones
Cell phones or other similar gadgets are best left outside the yoga class. It will also help you, your classmates, and teacher stay focused. And even better, you’ll be able to enjoy your yoga class more.
Be on time
It is always best to be on time. It makes it easier for you and your instructor to hold and join the class. That way you will also be able to get the full benefit of a full body workout and be able to relax as needed before running off to your next conquest.
Do unto others as you’d have done to yourself
Do be respectful. Keep the conversations for after the class. Bring your own towel or yoga mat. Try not to wear any strong perfumes or other strong scents. When using props, do be sure to put yours aside or put them back to where they belong so that the next person who needs it will not have a hard time. Of course, you can always just get some Wailana yoga dance DVDs and make it so you can practice yoga anytime in the comforts of your own home. That will make it much easier and practical for you as it will help you save time and energy driving to and from the gyms.
