Mother’s Day is almost here, so soon the crafters will come out of the woodwork to create gifts for their moms. That means many of them will be looking for free vintage Mother’s day greeting cards, which will allow them to incorporate vintage art into their crafts. Many crafty types prefer vintage, because it creates a special look that naturally goes together with honoring our moms.

The same thing applies to designing scrapbooks. Whether were’talking digital or traditional scrapbooks, vintage enhances them. Take for example, these vintage flower border embellishments. They were a staple in Victorian days and were common in the scrapbooks the ladies kept. You would often see the hand drawn borders surrounding ornate text that read “Mother” as a way of honoring her. And that practice continues as scrapbookers of today seek ways to honor their mothers.

Naturally, the scrapbook embellishments that work so well to honor Mom can also make distinctive hand-crafted Mother’s Day cards. The gorgeous ring of colorful flowers, are a perfect centerpiece in a Mother’s Day card. Also, they look terrific as a three-dimensional element. If the border is printed on card stock, the inside and outside edges can be cut out and laid over the top of a photo of Mom. The photo will show through, and the result will be the paper equivalent of a Victorian picture frame.

Non-crafters can also download a document that will allow them to make a free Mother’s Day present. Just choose one of these free Mothers Day certificates and download it. The certificate blanks are pre-designed and in PDF form, so all that’s needed is a signature after printing. Naturally, you can also frame the certificate. It doesn’t even need to be expensive to give the certificate a polished effect. Mom will love it no matter what.

So to create the perfect Mother’s Day gift, make a gift at home. It’s simple to do, and you might be surprised at the final effect. If you go this route your mother will surely be delighted, which will give you extra brownie points. She might even request a similar gift next year for Mother’s Day.
